Description

With over 100 million users (as of Feb. 2014), Minecraft is everywhere. Libraries across the world are engaging patrons across of all ages, providing space, access, information, and/or programming.

Wisconsin Valley Library Service is enabling librarians and their libraries to learn about this platform, this tool for engagement, this new facet of relevancy. These workshops will empower you to find ways to interact meaningfully with those patrons craving community, starting with the fundamentals of the game, and working through advanced game management as well as an array of programming options.

We took a little break to catch our breaths here during the grueling end of year and begining of year operations. But we're ready to get back into the Minecraft saddle and start teaching people how to ride digital ponies in fantastic artificial worlds.

Classes are open to all Wisconsin library personnel: systems, public libraries, K12s, academics, and even our friends at DPI. They will remain small (5-10 students) but there will be many scheduled. This Introduction to MinecraftEdu course will be running approximately once every 6 to 8 weeks, at least through 2016. Demand will drive continued support. We will be adding in schedules for the Intermediate and Advanced classes starting in August 2016.
